Stuart Holmes Coleman is a writer, teacher, surfer and ocean lover. Coleman is the award-winning author of Eddie Would Go and Fierce Heart (both from St. Martin's Press) and has written articles for Spirituality & Health, Men's Journal, Salon.com, Green Magazine, Surfer's Journal and many others. Coleman won the Eliot Cades Award for Literature, the Hawaii Book Publisher Association's Excellence in Non-Fiction Award and The Yemassee Award for Best Poetry. While earning his MFA in Creative Writing at American University, he served as the Writer-in-Residence at St. Albans School. Coleman has taught writing, literature and leadership at Punahou School, the University of Hawaii and the East-West Center. He currently works as the Hawaii Coordinator of the Surfrider Foundation and is passionate about protecting our oceans and coastlines.
